Spagnoletti violin

Peter Sheppard Skaerved celebrates the visit of the del Gesù violin to the Academy Museum and the influence of its former owner Paolo Spagnoletti (1773-1834).

The evening will include music by Spagnoletti's colleagues and rivals, and focus in particular on Niccolò Paganini's first performance in the capital, on the 9 June 1831, in which Spagnoletti played a leading, and controversial part.
