The Forgotten Renaissance

Frederick Corder

The turn of the 20th century saw an increase in the efforts of certain British composers to reignite a sense of nationalmusical identity, but several pupils studying under Frederick Corder at the Academy at this time have since faded from public attention. In this lecture-recital, Isaac Shieh rediscovers forgotten pieces for horn and examines the social circumstances that led to their neglect.
