Autumn Piano Festival: Politics and Protest

Head of Piano Professor Joanna MacGregor presents the Autumn Piano Festival, a day examining political revolution in music.

Performances include a soul-searching work by Shostakovich, pieces by contemporary pianist-composers Frederic Rzewski and Fazıl Say, and radical music by Liszt, Beethoven and Janáček. The final event features Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, written in a prisoner-of-war camp in 1941.
